Saturday, the 1st of July, marked a very special occasion indeed in the UK bingo calendar. With the confetti just about cleared up after another successful National Bingo Day a few days earlier, the spotlight shone brightly on Blackpool.

The 24th UK bingo club operated by Club 3000, a brand-new state-of-the-art £5 million venue at Festival Leisure Park in Blackpool, opened in considerable style this month, with over 800 customers greeted with not a glass of bubbly but also to a variety of entertainment, including a magician, the entertainer Craig Harper and, of course, of bingo.

To open the festivities were none other than stars from popular Soap Opera Coronation Street. Actors Joe Duttine and Sally Carman-Duttine, who play Tim Metcalfe and Abi Franklin in the long-running hit ITV show, brought some soap star glamour to the occasion.

A ‘Fabulous Evening'

Brian Fraser, the owner of Club 3000, said of the long-awaited Blackpool opening:

“We were thrilled to launch our newest club here at Blackpool; the club demonstrates how we lead the way as a modern-day bingo operator. We welcome all our new customers to the Club 3000 family. It was fantastic to see so many customers celebrating with us on the night.”

Local man Sean Connolly, the General Manager of Club 3000 Bingo Blackpool, added:

“The opening was a fabulous evening. The atmosphere was fantastic. I was delighted to see so many customers at the event and would like to thank them for their support and my team, who made it all happen on the night! This is a great community, and we can’t wait to welcome in even more customers in the coming weeks”

End of a Long Wait

The opening of Club 3000 Bingo Blackpool marks the end of a long wait and battle, to get the club open. As early as July 2019, BingoDaily reported on the wrangles between the developer and the Blackpool Council to get planning permission for the bingo club.

During the height of COVID, the bingo hall development was hit by delays. Once work started, the venue was given a June opening date. However, this was later pushed back to July 1st. Now, with the club finally open, Blackpool bingo players have a state-of-the-art bingo venue to call their own.
