The latest celebrity name to join the star-studded MeccaFest at Blackpool later on this year is ex-Coronation Street star, Katie McGlynn.

The Rochdale born actress departed from the popular ITV soap back in October last year. Her character, Sinead Tinker, passed away from cervical cancer amid emotional and memorable scenes.

Only last week, the 32-year old spoke of plans to pursue her acting career in Los Angeles. However, before McGlynn gets to enjoy the golden white sands of Venice Beach, Ms. McGlynn will get to enjoy the golden mile of Blackpool.

Katie, who had a successful night at the National Television Awards last week, will be joining a host of celebrities for Mecca Bingo's MeccaFest at Blackpool Tower on May 30th for a bingo extravaganza. The actress who also starred as Jodie “Scout” Allen in Waterloo Road picked up an award for Serial Drama Performance in recognition for her role as Sinead in Corrie.

Joining Katie will be none other than pop and reality TV star Peter Andre as well as Strictly winner Kelvin Fletcher, Love Island stars Jack Fincham and Michael Griffiths, Sister Sledge and Blue singer Duncan James.

£100,000 Worth of Prizes

In Mecca's social media, Katie is attributed as saying:

“I am so excited to be attending #MeccaFest on 30th May at Blackpool Tower Ballroom!”

The MeccaFest event is planned as a celebration of bingo. It will include celebrity guests and live bingo games with £100,000 worth of prizes throughout the night, all presided over by ex-Eastender Joe Swash.

The partner of Stacey Solomon and father to their son Rex said of the much-hyped event:

“There are eight-hundred tickets to be won. It's just a celebration of Mecca Bingo and its customers. We're going to have live music, DJ's, celebrities. There's going to be prizes on the night as well.”
