It's at troubled times like this when the Dunkirk spirit binds the nation. The latest example of a country pulling together is from the bingo world. Making the bingo news this week was Bongo's Bingo's announcement that the popular bingo event promoter is to lay on six special free shows taking place later in the year exclusively for NHS staff and emergency workers.

The Bingo's Bingo Liverpool crew has already been busy raising money for the NHS via their live streams on Twitch. The rave-infused event was forced to cancel a number of events and take their unique brand of mayhem and fun online. Already, more than 1 million people have streamed the shows over the first two weeks raising thousands of pounds for the NHS.

Since the Coronavirus crisis started, the team at Bongo's Bingo have also been using company vehicles and drivers to take NHS staff to and from work at The Royal NHS Hospital Liverpool.

Jonny Bongo and Joshua Burke Showing Appreciation

Joshua Burke, who along with Jonny Bongo founded Bongo's Bingo said of the gesture:

“I think pretty much everyone now has been affected in some way or another by this terrible situation. I also think now that everyone is realising what an incredible job the NHS and emergency workers are doing for us all, putting their lives on the line each day. If we can help them even a little bit then it’s giving something back to these amazing women and men, and the free shows are a thank-you from us for all of their efforts. My parents were both NHS nurses, so this is something very close to my heart.”

A statement on the Bongo's Bingo website read:

“A message for all our incredible NHS and emergency service workers.

“We all appreciate the amazing and incredible work you do for us, especially in these challenging times.

“So when this is all over, we're going to do what we do best with six Bongo's Bingo parties across the UK!

“Tickets to these events will be completely free and will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis to anyone working for the NHS and emergency services.”

The dates for the six special shows are yet to be confirmed. However, the venues confirmed are:

  • Content in Liverpool.
  • The Grand in London.
  • The Albert Hall in Manchester.
  • SWG3 in Glasgow.
  • Athena in Leicester.
  • Boiler Shop in Newcastle.

An announcement on how to purchase tickets, and dates, will be made on the Bongo's Bingo social media soon.
