Bingo halls in London and much of Essex and Hertfordshire will close on Wednesday 16th December, as new Tier 3 areas were announced on Monday.
Over eight million residents of Greater London will join large swathes of the country already in tier 3.
The following local authorities in Essex are in Tier 2 until 12:01am on 16 December, at which point they will move to Tier 3:

Brentwood
Castle Point
Chelmsford
Epping Forest
Harlow
Maldon
Rochford
Southend-on-Sea
Thurrock
The following local authorities in Hertfordshire are in Tier 2 until 12:01am on 16 December, at which point they will move to Tier 3:
Broxbourne
Hertsmere
Three Rivers
Watford
London
All 32 boroughs plus the City of London are in Tier 2 until 12:01am on 16 December, at which point they will move to Tier 3.
As per the UK Govt Tier rules, all bingo halls in Tier 3 will close. The tier 3 restrictions will be reviewed in two weeks' time.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock warned on Monday of “very sharp, exponential rises” in infections in London, Essex, Hertfordshire and Kent, and said cases across the nation had increased 14% in the past week.
“Until we can vaccinate enough people…we must act to suppress this virus.”
Bingo halls in tiers 1 and 2 will remain open but are restricted to 11pm closing times.
