Christopher France, of Staincliffe Road, Dewsbury Moor, Dewsbury has been given a prison sentence after being found guilty of theft from Buzz Bingo Bradford, his former employer.

France pleaded guilty to the charges at Bradford's magistrates’ court and was then sent to Bradford Crown Court for sentence.

The former Buzz Bingo employee in his mid-thirties, stole the cash, nearly £100k, – £95,600 in total,  between January 13th and May 17th, 2019.

The case was adjourned in November until this week due to there being no report from the probation service.

Robin Frieze, the barrister representing Christopher France told the court that France was a man of previous good character who had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

However, Judge Jonathan Rose told France that only a sentence comprising of immediate custody was appropriate in the circumstances.  Having been warned by the Recorder Jonathan Sandiford QC in the initial trial:  “This is a very serious matter. It crosses the custody threshold.”, France's barrister also conceded that the case crossed the custody threshold because of France's theft from his employer.

France was given a 20-month custodial service.
