A gang of prolific thieves who carried out a spate of violent robberies across London, including Mecca Bingo Eltham, have been jailed at Woolwich crown court last week.

Four men, Kieran Beazley, 33, Sam Holmes, 29, Sanchez Williams, 32, and David Leadbeater, 31, were all given custodial sentences after admitting conspiracy to rob.

The crime and used a method of ambushing security guards carrying cash boxes as they made deliveries to Post Offices, a Co-Op, and a Mecca Bingo Hall.

Having been captured by the Metropolitan Police's Flying Squad following a high-speed vehicle chase, the four were caught after stealing a cash box containing £28,000 from a security van at New Eltham Post Office on June 12th, 2020.

During a crime spree lasting from February to June this year, the gang, wearing gloves and masks, ambushed a security van outside a Mecca Bingo Hall in Eltham on February 17th. The group stole almost £7,000 in the process.

The four ‘career criminals' with a long list of previous convictions between them were all given sentences between seven and 11-and-a-half years.

Detective Inspector Gail Lilley, of Central Specialist Crime, said of the convictions and sentencing:

“We have put a stop to their criminal activities and taken dangerous criminals off the street.”
