Yet Another Ex-Bingo Hall Used for Cannabis Cultivation

Home » Yet Another Ex-Bingo Hall Used for Cannabis Cultivation

Bingo halls being repurposed is not something. At BingoDaily, we've reported on dozens of bingo halls closing and being repurposed into anything from takeaways to being demolished for new accommodation

Something that looks to be happening more frequently, is the use of old, former bingo halls as cannabis factories.

In June 2019, Northampton Police seized more than 2000 cannabis plants valued at nearly £3million from a former Gala Bingo Hall in Kettering.\

Then, just last month, police discovered a drugs stash worth up to £1million in an old abandoned bingo hall in Inverclyde in Scotland.

Now, with a new year upon us, a new cannabis factory has been found in an old bingo hall.

Neighbourhood officers from Hyndburn Police, Lancashire found a cannabis factory with nearly 500 plants at the old Empire Bingo Hall on Blackburn Road, Accrington on Friday.

PS Ian Corbett of the Hyndburn Neighbourhood Policing Team told the Lancashire Telegraph:

“Hyndburn Neighbourhood Policing Team officers have thwarted several large scale cultivations in recent days and we aim to build on this success in the coming weeks”.

The complex set up at the site was contained in several areas of the building, with the electricity bypassed.

No arrests have been made and officers are continuing with their enquiries
