pixabay.com A woman from Falkirk has been placed on a community payback order after a game of bingo played on Facebook took a turn for the worse and led to an assault.
According to a report in the Falkirk Herald, Michaela Lyndsay was one of a few people who turned up at a woman's house after a game of online bingo played on Facebook turned hostile.
Falkirk Sheriff Court was told that Lyndsay became involved in the incident in the victim's front garden following a game of bingo played on Facebook online which “escalated.”
In a sustained attack, the victim was left with injuries after Lyndsay and others grabbed the woman by her body, threw her to the ground, and repeatedly kicked and punched her about her head and body.
The details of quite how the online bingo game became hostile enough to lead to the assault remain cloudy. Lyndsay, a worker in a care home, maintained her innocence throughout the trial. Although she regretted her part in the incident, she claimed she acted in self-defense.
“Violent Attack”
Sheriff Alison Michie, who found Lyndsay guilty, said:
“You maintained your position of not guilty throughout the trial and that position was not accepted by me. I consider this to have been a violent assault with took place in the complainer’s own garden.”
Lyndsay, aged 30 was placed on a community payback order with the condition she completes 150 hours of unpaid work within 12 months.
