Geoffrey Hibbert from Basingstoke has pleaded not guilty to stealing over £28,000 from Buzz Bingo Basingstoke.

According to a report in the local paper, the 60-year-old man is accused, along with his co-defendant Mr. Elliot, of trespassing in the treasury room of Buzz Bingo located within a “private staff area” of the Leisure Park building on the 9th January 2020 and stealing £28,555.

Mr. Hibbert has pleaded not guilty at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday 31st March whilst Mr. Elliot will enter a plea.

The case has been adjourned until April 14th when Mr. Elliot will enter a plea. However, a provisional trial date of September 1st has been set for Winchester Crown Court.

Mr. Hibbert has been granted unconditional bail.

Buzz Bingo has been the target for thieves on more than one occasion. Just last December, Christopher France, of Staincliffe Road, Dewsbury Moor, Dewsbury was given a prison sentence after being found guilty of stealing £95,600 in total from Buzz Bingo Bradford, his former employer.

Attempted Break-in at Carlton Bingo Dumbarton

As one theft is being scrutinized by the courts, news of a failed break-in at Carlton Bingo Dumbarton has emerged.

According to local reports,  the police are investigating an attempted break-in at the Carlton Bingo in College Way, Dumbarton, last week.

At around 8.30 pm on March 22nd, the police were contacted about two people trying to get into the back of the building. Police officers arriving at the scene found that damage was done to the site but the would-be thieves failed to enter the premises.
