The lyrics of the Dixie Cups classic of 1964 – Chapel of Love, may well need an update.
Instead of “Goin' to the chapel and we're gonna get married,”, we can now sing “Goin' to the bingo and we're gonna get married” as Mecca Bingo are trialing a Vegas-style marriage package at their flagship Luton venue.
With wedding season fast approaching, Mecca Bingo is giving UK bingo lovers a truly unique wedding opportunity. Called ‘Mecca's Little Pink Chapel‘, this wonderfully British wedding package offers full-on Vegas glamour, complete with neons, drag queen celebrants, ringbearers, bingo ball bouquets, and, of course, bingo.
The Mecca Bingo Luton wedding trial follows a successful license application and promises ‘an outlandish and fun backdrop for couples who have hit the love jackpot.'
With weddings already being conducted on football pitches, theatres, aquariums, and Victorian bathhouses to name just a few unusual wedding venues, it does feel that bingo is a little late to the party. But, better late than never!
This looks like an exciting idea that will go down well with bingo fans and Mecca Bingo should be applauded for the innovation.
Sarah O’Neill, Mecca Bingo’s Head of Innovation, and a Rank Group (LON: RNK) stalwart of 16 years said:
“Our customers love bingo, and couples regularly get engaged in our venues, so we thought why not offer them the opportunity to say ‘I do’ in club as well! With wedding breakfasts followed by a game, there could even be the chance for the lucky couple to win their honeymoon money too!”
