In these coronavirus times, the reaction to the pandemic by many bingo companies has been nothing short of magnificent. From opening the kitchens for the homeless, giving free car parking spaces to the NHS, and free shows for frontline workers, the UK bingo community has rallied around at a time of need.

Gala Bingo, one of the UK's largest offline and online bingo operators, has been at the forefront of the UK bingo community ‘giving something back.' Early in April, there was Free Online Bingo Offered to Over 65s By Gala Bingo

Then, just two weeks ago, as it became apparent the lockdown wasn't ending any time soon, Galabingo Extended the Free Bingo Offer for Over 65s. Now, the company has made another strong gesture. Dominating the bingo news yesterday, was the announcement that GalaBingo.com has gifted its sponsorship of ITV's primetime show ‘The Chase' to its charity partner 52 Lives.

Raising Vital Funds

For two weeks which started this Monday 18th May, the charity will be featured throughout the popular ITV show in order to raise awareness and vital funds.

52 Lives is a charity which was set up by Jaime Thurtson in 2013 and uses kindness to change people’s lives through acts such as providing household furnishings and funding medical equipment.

The charity has seen a noticeable increase in donations since the lockdown began. This has enabled Galabingo's charity partner to help more people across the UK.

During the lockdown period, the offline and online bingo operators have been inviting players to support the cause by playing special games every evening. In these games, 100% of the proceeds go directly to those in need. Last month, the company has donated £52,000. Overall, since the 52 Lives and Gala Bingo linked up, more than £400,000 has been raised for good causes.

Karina Adrian, Head of Brand Marketing at GalaBingo.com, said: “We’re proud to work with 52 Lives, a fantastic initiative that makes a real difference, and to encourage our players to support the cause with our charity bingo games.

“We know their work is really important and wanted to make the sponsorship of The Chase available to them to help them to spread their message of kindness across the UK, as well as raise funds to help more people in need. We hope this means their donations continue to grow and grow.
