In this coronavirus times, every aspect of our lives has been affected. Whether it's work, socialising or just buying food, restrictions are in place that as well as keep us safe, also limit our activities.

Once the government placed a banning order on gatherings which included bingo halls, many bingo event operators like Bongo's Bingo were forced to cancel events and take bingo online.

Making the bingo news this week was Galabingo offering over 65s free online bingo for the duration of the coronavirus lockdown.'

Isolation is never easy, especially for the elderly. The gesture by one of the UK's leading bingo operators is aimed at keeping people connected and entertained during this difficult and troubling period.

On top of the free games being offered, Gala is also giving out £50 shopping vouchers to help people who are struggling. Gala players are being asked to nominate deserving people in the community via the site, with nominations now open.

Free Games to Help During Isolation

The offline and online bingo company will be providing games free of charge for those aged 65 or over from Monday 30th March until the lockdown is finally lifted (fingers crossed soon). Galabingo will host two free bingo sessions every day, from 10.30-11.30am, and again at 5.30-6.30pm.

As well as playing the usual games with cash prizes, visitors to the galabingo site will also be able to join chatrooms to communicate with like-minded people in similar situations.

Gala has been a charity partner to 52 Lives for 3 years, and understand fully the importance of helping people to stay connected through a difficult time with some suffering from limited outdoor access or much-needed communication and interaction with others.

Karina Adrian, Head of Brand Marketing at GalaBingo.com, said of Galabingo's latest charitable gesture:

“We are a real community at Gala and now more than ever people need to be able to chat with others and keep in touch. We know that self-isolation can be mentally challenging, and we’re pleased to be able to provide entertainment that is safe and responsible, and encourages older people to keep socialising.

“It’s also important to remember to continue supporting charities that carry out vital work with those in need during this difficult time. We’re proud to work with 52 Lives, a fantastic initiative that makes a real difference, and encourage our players to support the cause with our charity bingo games.”
