Dabbers at the Buzz Bingo, in Ranelagh Road, Ipswich received a surprise this week, as Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer paid them a visit ahead of National Bingo Day.
The leader of the opposition is in the region and is scheduled to make a series of media appearances on Thursday. Bingo goers were greeted by the sight of the leader of the Labour Party on Wednesday night who got involved in the evening session at the popular bingo club and slots room in the Orwell Retail Park in Ipswich.
According to a report in the local newspaper, Sir Kier Starmer, who has been Leader of the Opposition since 2020 and a Member of Parliament for Holborn and St Pancras since 2015, even got involved; speaking to customers, colleagues and presenting a game of bingo. Even calling the bingo numbers himself.
It is not known if Sir Keir Starmer during the bingo calling had to call “Boris's Den. number ten”, but from comments made on social media, the labour leader seemed relaxed and enjoying himself. Who wouldn't? After all, it IS bingo!
Joe Tull, General Manager at Buzz Bingo, said: “Ahead of National Bingo Day this Sunday, we were delighted to welcome Sir Keir Starmer to our club in Ipswich. There were definitely a few shocked customers when they saw who was calling a game of bingo!”
