Buzz Bingo has marked a major milestone this May, reaching its three-year goal of raising £200,000 for the Stroke Association. The announcement coincides with Stroke Awareness Month, as the UK bingo operator rolls out additional fundraising activities to support the UK charity.
The Stroke Association, the UK’s leading charity dedicated to supporting stroke survivors and their families, is currently highlighting the fact that 240 people in the UK suffer a stroke every day. As part of its campaign efforts, Buzz Bingo is hosting a series of charity bingo games and events throughout the month of May.
Special Charity Game
A special charity game is being run every Thursday in May during the operator’s Main Event bingo sessions. Played both in the afternoon and evening, the £1 game is available on both paper and touchscreen formats across Buzz Bingo’s venues and top online bingo platform. All proceeds, after prize money and tax, go directly to the Stroke Association.
In addition to the charity game, Buzz Bingo and local clubs have been involved in countless fundraising activities to raise money for the charity. Buzz Bingo’s community across the UK has picked up their mics for the Sing4Stroke initiative to showcase the connection between group singing and stroke recovery, with many colleagues and customers brushing up on their vocals for a good cause. National Bingo Presenter of the Year, Issy-Mae Hunt, has penned an original song about Buzz Bingo’s charity activities, which will be launched on social media during Stroke Awareness Month.
From Head Shaves to Sky Dives and Everything Inbetween
The whole Buzz Bingo initiative is expected to raise an estimated £30,000 by the end of May, taking Buzz Bingo beyond its original three-year £200,000 fundraising target. The proceeds come from numerous sources, including charity games, staff activities, and customer fundraising efforts. From head shaves to marathon running, virtual cycle rides, cake sales, Christmas jumper days, quiz nights, and even sky dives – the Buzz Bingo team has done it all in the name of this incredible cause.
Buzz Bingo’s ongoing charitable work has previously included partnerships with several UK charities. In a similar campaign last year, the operator collaborated with a mental health organisation to raise awareness and funds through in-club activities and themed games.
The Stroke Association remains the only UK charity offering comprehensive, long-term support to all those affected by strokes. The funds raised by Buzz Bingo will contribute to the organisation's wide-reaching efforts, which include helpline services, rehabilitation programmes, and advocacy.
