With more and more of the country reopening after the lockdown was imposed in March, bingo fans will welcome this week's bingo news.
Bongo's Bingo, the increasingly popular rave-infused bingo event, is coming back with two events announced for this summer.
And where else to stage the first shows back then the party city of the United Kingdom, none other than Newcastle.
The Bongo’s Bingo team has announced two shows that will be held at Gosforth Park, Newcastle, at the Virgin Money Unity Arena. The venue is described as the UK’s first dedicated socially-distanced music venue. Other musical acts planned at the grounds include Ronan Keating, The Libertines, Van Morrison, Alfie Boe, and Supergrass.
Event creator Jonny Bongo, real name Jonathan Lacey, said of the Newcastle shows:
“Despite the difficulties endured by so many during the pandemic, the first Bongo’s Bingo shows in months will offer what so many people have been craving for so long – escapism.”
“We obviously cannot wait to get back to doing what we love, and these outdoor shows at the arena are ideal to give everyone a release.”
“We want to make it really special and give everyone some big Bongo’s Bingo love in Newcastle!”
Afternooners and Nighters
The first Bingo's Bingo show will take place from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday, August 30th: the Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend.
The second event will take place from 7.30pm- 10.30pm on Saturday, September 12th.
Jonny Bongo added:
“We know how tough things have been too – it's been such a crazy and surreal time for everyone.
“We have all been desperate to come back but only when it safe and right and this is the perfect place for us to do some shows as it is properly socially-distanced which is great.”
The events promise to be a fun-packed and socially distant extravaganza. A fast and furious mix of entertainment, bingo, dancing, cheering and more. The Bongo's Bingo Newcastle New Years events are already the stuff of legends
